A statement we can all support
The Uluru Statement from the Heart is a call to unite the nation.
One of the very first things our new Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in his victory speech was that the Australian Labor Party are “committed to the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full”.
So what does that even mean?
If you’ve not read it – you can do so here, or read the statement below:

This is a call for unity and reconciliation by the First Nations people of Australia. A request to be included in the Constitution of Australia, which will mean a referendum where the Australian people get to say yes to including a First Nations Voice.
It’s a request for real inclusion, and an opportunity to provide all First Nations people with a better opportunity
For the rest of us – the ones whose ancestors floated or flew here in the last 225 years – this is our opportunity to engage in the important work of reconciliation. To listen and to learn. To love our First Nations neighbour as ourselves
For us as a movement, this is our opportunity to live out our commitment to the renewed covenant with the United Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) and ensure our new government knows we want them to be courageous and deliver all the outcomes of the Uluru Statement of the Heart in full.
