NCLS – An opportunity to listen to our young people

In case you didn’t know, NCLS continues to be happening this month in our Synod. It is an opportunity to see where our church and the people in our congregations are up to at this critical moment in history.

What you may not be aware of is that the NCLS is interested in the voice of our children and young people as well. The survey is designed for use from ages 15+, but there is also a children survey for 8 – 15 year olds.

As a pulse team we want to help the church listen better to children and young people and you can be part of it. Why not write to your families asking them to help their kids fill in the survey or organise a social gathering with food to give the opportunity for young people’s voices to be heard.

For all NSW and ACT UCA churches it is free for congregations to participate in the National Church Life Survey. If your congregation has decided not to participate you can also talk to NCLS about your children and young people participating in the broader survey..

If we are serious about growing younger together as a Church, listening to our young people is key to this. Here is a well researched opportunity to listen deeply. During this time of Covid this is especially important. I hope your community can take it up.
