HSC Daily Prayers
Conversation | | 28th September 2020
2020 has not been an easy year, especially for our HSC students. In ordinary circumstances Year 12 students feel the pressure of the HSC Exams looming over them during their final year of high school, but this year has also been thrown out of whack due to COVID, impacting a lot of their school and study time.
Earlier this year the PULSE team and Roseville UC worked together and organised a HSC Lock-In for students who would be sitting their final exams. The HSC Lock-In offered a way for congregations, presbyteries, and communities to support Year 12 students, with the goal of this being the first of an annual event.
With COVID still among us, it is disappointing that plans for this years first HSC Lock-In have had to be put on pause as the Synod has advised against holding this as a physical event. As per the PULSE calendar, we will be looking to run the event in 2021, praying a way/vaccine has been developed by then.
The PULSE team are not deterred by this change of plans and still want to support the Year 12 cohort through this time. Every day of the HSC exam period at 7am the PULSE team want to offer a brief time of prayer and support for our Year 12 students. Hosted by Ofa and Molk, they’ll be joined by a range of different people offering encouragement, advice, support and prayer, as well as giving students the chance to offer prayer requests themselves. This daily gathering will be livestreamed on the PULSE Facebook page.
In the meantime, we keep the HSC students of 2020 in our prayers as we lead up to the examination period. You have persevered through a year of disruptions and pressure, may God continue to guide you all, giving you strength and wisdom to continue through the final stretch of your high school journey.
Ofa Foiakau is the Field Officer (Central/West), and responsible for youth/high school ministry as a part of the PULSE team.
