How a kid’s lunch can save your church
You could almost blink and miss it. A small boy offers up the five barley loaves and two fish packed for him as lunch so that Jesus might reveal to everyone who he really is.
I recently had the privilege to share a message at my home church, Terrigal Uniting. Never one to miss an opportunity I used the feeding of the five thousand from John 6:1-15 as my text, and spoke about the privilege we have to be in community with young people as we help them recognise the Messiah at work right in front of them – even at work in their lives right now.
I also ask some strong questions about how we as a church take seriously how God is calling us to again draw closer to his mission, and how we work together to make our churches places that love young people.
